The first game sanctuary on the African Continent – Groenkloof Nature Reserve – boasts a range of technical single-track trails, all set within a variety of woodland, koppies and grassland. Come and join us in escaping the surrounding urban jungle and run between game like Zebra, Blesbok, Reedbuck, Sable, Impala, Wildebeest and Giraffe. Bring the family and enjoy a picnic or braai afterwards.

What is a better way to run and admire the spectacular view of our Capital and its beautiful scenery?! A circular route that starts and ends in Fort Klapperkop, the third fort erected just before the outbreak of the Anglo-Boer War. The route winds around the top of Klapperkop, to give you the bird’s eye view of the city.

Voortrekker Monument

The Voortrekker Monument, in a nature reserve on the outskirt of Pretoria, is an imposing granite structure. Spectacular 360 views across the reserve reveal savannah bushveld with plains and game such as black wildebeest, blesbok, zebra, reedbuck, springbuck and impala. The trail consists of a combination of technical single track and jeep track around the ridges of Schanskop Hill.

The Trio Series is proud to support Friends of Groenkloof and Klapperkop Nature Reserves. The Friends of Groenkloof and Klapperkop Nature Reserves are a non-profit volunteer based organization with the aim to maintain and conserve these nature reserves in Pretoria, South Africa. Some of the past projects include: Security upgrades, game fence, road game grids, reintroduction of wild animal species, rehabilitation, tree planting, MTB trails, removal of wattle and invasive alien plants, signage, etc.
